What HVAC System Installation Involves
A complete system installation starts with an assessment of the whole home, not just the mechanical room. We look at square footage, insulation levels, window count and orientation, and the condition of the existing ductwork, since undersized or leaky ducts will limit the performance of even the best furnace and air conditioner. Where ductwork is undersized or in poor condition, we discuss options for repair or modification alongside the new equipment.
Equipment selection balances efficiency, capacity and budget. Higher efficiency furnaces and air conditioners cost more upfront but reduce operating costs over the life of the system, and we lay out the tradeoffs clearly rather than defaulting to the highest or lowest cost option. Matching the indoor coil, outdoor condenser and furnace or air handler to each other also affects both efficiency and warranty coverage, so we select compatible components rather than mixing brands or model lines that were not designed together.
During installation we set equipment level and secure, connect and seal ductwork, wire the system to code, and commission it with the manufacturer's specified refrigerant charge and airflow settings. Once running, we test heating and cooling performance at the thermostat and check several vents throughout the home to confirm even distribution before considering the job complete.
